Elizabeth K. Schwartz explains…

Schwartz

Did you ever walk into a music therapy session and forget your guitar in the car? Did you ever find that the plug to your portable keyboard is shot? Some music therapists end up relying on their voice by accident. Some might use their voice because another instrument is not available or allowed in the space they practice in. What I want this course to do, is to give every music therapist a comprehensive and firm understanding of the clinical value of the human voice in music therapy; and give them the necessary skills to make their own voice a therapeutic tool that they feel comfortable using clinically.

This will be a highly experiential and highly practical course that will give music therapists the tools and strategies to develop and expand the use of their voice in their clinical work. Together, we will explore the basics of vocal techniques, ways to maintain vocal health and issues that we all encounter with singing. We will learn and practice specific ways to increase the musical richness and variety of each person’s singing and speaking voice, no matter the beginning level of singing comfort or quality.
