What will you be sharing?
This CMTE will introduce participants to the principles of Mindfulness and Positive Psychology. These fields of study and practice are being actively integrated into therapeutic approaches of all kinds. They also present a new paradigm for thinking about Music Therapy – how and why it works!

What is your experience with this topic?
I have been working in a wellness model for 20 years after 15 years of working in traditional clinical models. I have been a practitioner and teacher of mindfulness for almost 20 years and have been exploring and studying positive psychology for about that long.

Where will attendees be able to implement the information you share?
The information is applicable to all kinds of client groups and clinical populations. It is particularly applicable to wellness approaches, including self-care for the therapist.

Tell us something that makes your CMTE unique or different.
It’s a topic that most Music Therapists don’t get training in.

Why is this topic of interest to you?
It is a paradigm that is on the forefront of new therapeutic approaches and neuroscience. Having incorporated it into my practice as well as my self-care for many years, I see its effectiveness over and over.

Anyone interested in the topic – professionals with all levels of experience.

What kind of information will attendees be walking away with?
Theoretical foundations in Mindfulness and Positive Psychology as well as ideas of how to incorporate these into Music Therapy practice.
