CMTE K – Filling Your Toolbox: NMT Strategies for Speech-language, Cognition and Motor Skills takes place on Thursday, November 21st – 7:30 am-12:30 pm and is presented by Julie Guy, MM, MT-BC and Angela Neve, MT-BC.

CMTE attendees will learn tools and strategies to add to their “toolbelts” for with children and youth with Autism Spectrum Disorders and other developmental delays. The first section, “Building the Toolbox”, focuses on pertinent music therapy and neuroscience research as related to speech and language, cognition and motor skills. The remainder of the CMTE, “Building the Tools,” will be comprised of four sections including: (1) a music learning hierarchy (2) neurologic music strategies for speech and language, (3) cognition and (4) motor movement.

This CMTE will incorporate a variety of learning models including live demonstration, video examples, group discussion, and small group collaboration. In small groups participants will have the opportunity to develop interventions for the clients that they work with related to the areas of speech/language, motor skills and cognition and share them with the group.
