Mary Jane Landaker fills us in on what to expect…

What will you be sharing?

Thoughts, techniques, and tips for how to be an effective supervisor for music therapy interns (specifically in National Roster programs, but any and all supervisors are welcome to attend!).

What is your experience with this topic?

Every member of the Association Internship Approval Committee (AIAC) has acted as an internship director either currently or in the recent past. Many of us have been IDs for over 10 years. We have been supervisors and have lots of experience to share.

Why is this topic of interest to you?

We are dedicated to making sure that all interns have effective and appropriate internship experiences. One of the ways to do this is to talk frankly and openly about supervision and the ways interns interact during their training.

What kind of information will attendees be walking away with?

Information about intern development, ways to engage interns with different learning styles, multicultural considerations, and professional resources. Also, attendees will have the opportunity to problem-solve situations with other MT-BCs who are experienced supervisors. The AIAC revamps this CMTE every 5 years – updating references, resources, and information to accommodate changes in our ever evolving profession. We encourage all current IDs and supervising music therapists to attend this FREE CMTE at least every 5 years to ensure that their competence in supervision continues.

Tell us something that makes your CMTE unique or different.

It is FREE to professional members (or graduate students who are currently MT-BCs). It is offered to AMTA members for free through the volunteer efforts of the members of the AIAC.
